Virtually Bach

Here is a video filmed on virtual regions in the Metropolis OpenSim grid.

What motivates people to cause trouble and pain in others is beyond me. Not only is it destructive, but stupid too. There is one single source to avoid the trap of this mindlessness – and that is an attitude based on humility and kindness. There is no point in eagerly trying to prove superiority – there are always people who are as smart as we are. So the only way to stand out is to be kind.

And then there is virtual reality, the promised land, where there is nothing but light, love, beauty and creativity – which is the main theme of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. So these two should be going together very well.

Apartment 3b – 100% made of prims

This is the most awesome piece in the multiverse for me right now. I have to go here everytime I log into SL. It feels like home (though my flat is a tiny bit more orderly – well, just a tiny bit, and maybe that vanity aspect adds to the feelgood momentum).

Another reason I feel at home is that there seldom is someone around – what I like best. So please stay away and hunt for aliens or sex or business or whichever bright stuff you usually do.

I admire this building because of so many reasons, so many good ideas and it all adds up to this human touch I see in all these details. And I believe it is a humorous touch, too.

One aspect is the fun play with realistic modelling of meatworld things (there is so much to discover here). And once you bought the idea the result has an appeal in itself. It even lets me entertain the thought that being in old school real world could be a nice enjoyable thing (a thought, I know, the occasional reader from teh internets shies away from in horror).

Va pensiero

As I have seen the ISS three times this week crossing our night sky I went to SL to search for one of my older LMs – The International Spaceflight Museum. Fun, and weird, to see a document of time spent – or wasted – in a virtual world.

And yes, the place is still there. I haven’t been there for years, but I always had in my mind to go back there and revoke memories of times when things were magical and people were nice and enthusiastic. Et voilà, there it is, in all its awesomeness.

A fitting coincidence is that I spoke to Smiley Raymaker earlier tonight through chat. I would so love to hear her again. Two years ago at the Entschleunigt Café we were happy to have her on stage. And I am happy to have met ArrowAndBow again, Entschleunigt’s manager, two weeks ago.

In Craft World they had a fun tropical party tonight, with “S.O.S.” in huge letters written on the beach. But I forgot to take a picture, which otherwise really would fit here very well.

Instead, here is a picture of a nice, warm, welcoming shelter. It is on Caprice Hills on the sim Caverns of Aleval in SL. Houses like that speak to the heart and the soul – mental and emotional nourishment for human beings.

After that I went to the Ger Y Li Midweek Ball that Yavanna Lanfair hosts for, like, ages. Which is great. Great as the sea that keeps washing to our shores or the moon that keeps lighting the night. I am glad Yavanna’s place is there. And when I arrived DJane Jaelle played Glenn Gould’s rendition of a Bach piece – another coincidence, since it is an essential nutrition component for my spirits.

So … what a happy day. There were tons of things happening. For instance, I had a pleasant conversation in a midsize industry workshop about stainless steel sheet metal and stuff, which was awesome. At the end of the day I invaded a friends garden, wrote this text and enjoyed myself.

Nature sims in OpenSim

There is a growing number of beautiful nature sims in OpenSim. Since I lost all my BlogHud-posts (the service seems to have died quietly) I may restart blogging those. I should. But maybe not, lol.

SL10B – SL5B

(s. hier)
